From Grupo Raminatrans we want to remind you that the Chinese New Year will soon be celebrated (from January 31 to February 6), as every year this holiday period in China will be a turning point in trade and logistics in general, and in particular in international shipping. We will have to pay attention to how the return occurs and especially whether or not there are areas of the country in which, as recently happened with Beilun, the port neighborhood of Ningbo, which was confined and closed by COVID. This variant, omicron, is highly contagious and Beijing does not want to risk general transmission among the population.

Regarding freight rates for imports from Asia to the Mediterranean, they are behaving the same as they ended in 2021. The escalation that freight rates have been suffering for commercial movements between both areas has continued, taking hold in these first weeks of the year, a trend that, as we have already informed you, has been taking place since the last quarter of 2020.
In fact, there are several routes that still are under great pressure, the Transpacific that covers Asia and the United States, for example.

Regarding exports, the situation is also very similar to how it ended in 2021, especially with the USA and Latam, where there is also a shortage of equipment, but mainly of spaces, so we encourage you to make your space reservations with the maximum advance.

Meanwhile, at Grupo Raminatrans we will continue to offer our best customer oriented service to work every day taking care of each load and our customers, with the hope that this new Chinese year, the Year of the Tiger, as a symbol of strength and courage, will bring us great amount of both to face a year of great uncertainties.
